Biography

 

Jovan Todorović is a Serbian-American filmmaker, writer, and multidisciplinary artist working across documentaries, commercials, music videos, and narrative cinema.

His work includes two documentary features: The Belgrade Phantom, which premiered at IDFA, was exhibited at Centre Pompidou in Paris, and received the FIPRESCI Award, and Juvenile, which premiered at EnergaCamerimage in Toruń, Poland.

Having lived and worked across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and the United States, Todorović creates films shaped by a strong visual sensibility and an interest in identity, belonging, memory, and human connection.

He is drawn to storytelling as a way of using heightened visual, auditory, and textural experiences to explore the human experience and promote connectivity through empathy. His work recognizes the extraordinary in the ordinary, broadening our ideas of beauty and our understanding of what it means to be human.

His commercial work includes campaigns for brands including Nike, Adidas, Diesel, Samsung, Guinness, Google, Comcast, Tissot, General Motors, and Experience Abu Dhabi. His music videos include collaborations with artists including Major Lazer, Jessie Ware, John Legend, Shakira, Nicki Minaj, Vaundy, Inhaler, and ZNTNDR.

Jovan is also the founder, producer, and lead vocalist of ZNTNDR, an electronic music and video project for which he directed multiple award-winning music videos.

He is currently developing multiple narrative feature projects.
